Non-Executive Directors: dealing with risky banks

Dear fellow members,

Several ITNEA members attended and enjoyed a working lunch/seminar last October, hosted by the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT).  They have kindly extended an invitation for members of the ITNEA to attend their next NED seminar on 4 February 2009.  I attach below a letter to you from their CEO that sets out the context and arrangements.

If you are interested please email or phone Louise Tatham at the ACT as set out in the letter below.

We launched an ITNEA Group at LinkedIn last month and already have more members of the group than we managed for ITNEA in its first year.  If you are a member of LinkedIn and have not joined this Group why not join next time you log in to LinkedIn; search > Groups - ITNEA

ACT Invitation below this email   V

Dear colleague

Non-Executive Directors: dealing with risky banks

A Working Lunch on Thursday 4 February 2010, London

Following the success of the first ACT non-executive directors’ lunch in October, we are pleased to invite you to another treasury management masterclass.

At the lunch we will focus on counterparty risk  - a subject that should be on your FD’s agenda given the concerns over the viability of some banks, the collapse of Lehman Brothers and recent news flow from Dubai. In addition, we will cover other topical developments that may impact on treasury and financial risk management – and of course be delighted to deal with specific issues that you may wish to raise.

The working lunch will be led by senior members of the ACT’s technical team with a wealth of treasury and finance experience including holding the posts of Group Treasurer at Vodafone, Director of Treasury at Cadbury Schweppes and Finance Director of AMEC.

The working lunch will take place from 12.30pm – 2.00pm on Thursday 4 February 2010 at the offices of Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP, Adelaide House, London Bridge, London EC4R 9HA. The event is free to attend.

If you would like to attend, please contact Louise Tatham at the ACT on 020 7847 2544 or e-mail ltatham@treasurers.org. Please mention you are a member of the ITNEA and advise her of any specific dietary requirements.

If you have any questions about the topic of the working lunch, please contact me on ssiddall@treasurers.org.

I do hope you will be able to join us.

Yours sincerely

Stuart Siddall

Chief Executive

Please also feel free to pass this invitation on to fellow non-executive colleagues of quoted TMT companies if you think they would like to join ITNEA.  Up-to-date information on ITNEA can be found at www.itnea.net.

Dear colleague

Treasury and Financial Strategy: Working Lunch for Non-Executive Directors

5 October 2009, London

The importance of financial strategy and treasury management has been highlighted by the recent financial crisis. Many Boards are taking a much closer interest in this critical area – an area in which it is all too easy to miss the bigger picture.

We would like to invite you to a working lunch aimed at enabling non-executive directors to gain an insight into the key questions that they should be asking at both strategic and routine levels (and what reasonable answers might look like).

The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) is well placed to give such guidance. We are the professional body for those working in treasury, risk and corporate finance. Our members work in companies of all sizes (and, here in the UK, in 89% of the FTSE 100). We are also the world’s leading examining body for international treasury, providing the widest scope of benchmark qualifications and continuing development through training, conferences and publications.

The working lunch will be led by senior members of the ACT team with a wealth of treasury and finance experience including holding the posts of Group Treasurer at Vodafone, Director of Treasury at Cadbury Schweppes and Finance Director of AMEC. We’ll also give you a handy checklist to take away (including details of our technical queries service).

The working lunch will take place from 12.30pm – 2.00pm on Monday 5 October at the offices of Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP, Adelaide House, London Bridge, London EC4R 9HA. The event is free to attend.

If you would like to attend, please contact Laura James at the ACT on 020 7847 2586 or e-mail ljames@treasurers.org.  Please mention you are a member of the ITNEA and advise her of any specific dietary requirements.

If you have any questions about the topic of the working lunch, please contact me.

I do hope you will be able to join us.

Yours sincerely

Stuart Siddall
